What happens during your appointment

Your stylist will:

• Assess your hair — length, thickness, texture, and any concerns like dryness or breakage
• Cleanse thoroughly with a shampoo chosen for your hair type (moisturising, volumising, colour-safe, etc.)
• Condition or treat to improve manageability, softness, and heat protection
• Towel dry gently and detangle carefully to minimise any pulling or breakage
• Section and blow dry using round or paddle brushes, working through your hair methodically for an even, polished result
• Finish with styling products — heat protectant, smoothing serum, light spray — to lock in shine, reduce frizz, and help the style hold

Long hair typically takes the full 45 minutes because there's more to work through, especially if your hair is thick or textured.

How long will it last?

Most clients get 1–3 days from a professional blow dry, sometimes longer depending on your hair type and how you look after it. A few things that help:

• Protect it while you sleep — a loose bun or braid on a silk pillowcase works wonders
• Keep moisture at bay — humidity, rain, and gym sessions will shorten the lifespan, so plan your appointment close to events if you can
• Go easy on touching — the more you run your hands through it, the faster it'll lose shape
• Use the right products at home — sulphate-free shampoos, lightweight conditioners, and a good heat protectant all make a difference

If your hair is very curly, textured, or has extensions, mention that when you book so we can plan the right products and techniques. And if you'd like curls, waves, or straightening with hot tools on top of the blow dry, just ask — we can usually add that on.

Keeping your hair healthy

Regular blow dries are brilliant for convenience and confidence, but heat protection matters. We always use a protectant during your appointment, and we'll recommend one for home use too — especially important if you colour or chemically treat your hair. Between visits, the kindest thing you can do is limit additional straightening or curling at home and stick to gentle, nourishing shampoos and conditioning masks. Our team (Janet, Lynzie, Beckie, Alicia, Jess, and Imogen) are all trained on the Keune range we stock, so we can point you toward exactly what your hair needs without the guesswork.
