If you love your overall colour but your roots are starting to show and the rest is looking a bit tired, a roots and mid-lengths refresh is the perfect maintenance service. We apply permanent colour to your regrowth to cover greys and blend the root line, then freshen up some of the mid-lengths with a gentler tone to revive shine and even everything out—without over-processing your ends.

What Happens During Your Appointment
We start with a quick consultation to check your colour history and match your shade. Then we section your hair and apply permanent colour to the roots (usually the first couple of inches) to cover regrowth and greys. Once that's on, we apply a demi- or semi-permanent tone through the mid-lengths to refresh faded colour and create a smooth transition. After processing (usually around 30–45 minutes for the roots), we rinse everything thoroughly, shampoo, condition, and blow-dry so you can see the finished result. The whole appointment takes about 75 minutes.
Who It's For
This service is all about maintenance, not major change. It's ideal if:
- Your overall colour is exactly where you want it, but your roots are showing after a few weeks
- The mid-lengths have faded or gone a bit flat since your last visit
- You want to keep things fresh and even between full colour appointments (usually every 4–6 weeks)
- You'd rather not recolour the ends every time, to keep your hair in better condition
If you're after a dramatic colour change, lightening, or balayage, we'd recommend booking a different service—this one's designed to keep what you've already got looking great.
Keeping Your Colour Looking Fresh
A little care at home makes a big difference:
- Use a sulphate-free or colour-safe shampoo to stop colour fading too quickly
- Wash in cooler water when you can—hot water opens the cuticle and lets colour escape
- Limit heat styling, and always use a heat protectant
- Pop back every 4–8 weeks (depending on how fast your hair grows and how much contrast you have between natural and coloured hair) to keep the blend seamless
We use and sell Keune colour and treatments in the salon, and our stylists can recommend the right products to keep your colour vibrant between visits.
What to Mention at Your Consultation
The more we know about your hair history, the better the result. Let your stylist know:
- Any previous colour (especially box dyes, bleach, or henna)
- How porous or damaged your hair feels
- Any allergies or reactions you've had to colour before
- How often you're happy to come back for maintenance
If there's a big contrast between your natural colour and your dyed colour (dark roots with blonde lengths, for example), we might suggest slightly more frequent appointments to keep everything blended. And if your hair's been heavily lightened or is very porous, we'll adjust the formulas to protect your condition while still getting great colour.
