Kids Cut & Blow Dry
A Kids Cut & Blow Dry is a complete children's hairdressing service that starts with a gentle cleanse using shampoo and conditioner chosen for your child's hair type, followed by a tailored cut and a careful blow dry with a light finishing product. It's designed for children over 5 who can comfortably sit through the full service, and takes around 45–60 minutes so there's no rush.

What Happens During the Appointment
The service begins with a quick chat between you, your child, and the stylist to agree on the style — photos are always helpful. Then:
- Hair is gently washed and conditioned with products suited to your child's hair type (fine, thick, curly, dry, etc.)
- The stylist cuts the hair to the agreed style, using simple, practical shapes that grow out well and are easy to manage at home
- Hair is blow dried on a low to medium heat setting, with extra care around the scalp and ears
- The style is finished with a light, age-appropriate product like detangling spray or smoothing cream — nothing heavy or harsh for young scalps
Our stylists are used to working with children and will take the time to explain what's happening and make sure your child feels comfortable throughout.
Who This Service Is For
This service is recommended for children aged 5 and over who are comfortable sitting still for around 45 minutes to an hour. Younger children may find the full wash, cut and blow dry process a bit much, and their scalps and hair can be more delicate — if your child is under 5, a quicker trim might be a better fit.
It's ideal if your child:
- Has longer or thicker hair that benefits from a proper wash and blow dry
- Wants a neat, styled finish rather than just a quick trim
- Is happy to sit through the whole process (or you'd like them to get used to a full salon experience)
If your child has any sensory sensitivities, anxiety, or special needs, just let us know when you book so the stylist can adapt the approach — quieter tools, more breaks, or less use of the hairdryer if needed.
Aftercare and Keeping the Style Fresh
The finished style is designed to be easy for you and your child to look after at home. A few simple tips:
- Use a mild, child-friendly shampoo and conditioner — ask the stylist for recommendations if you're not sure
- Brush regularly to prevent tangles, especially for longer hair
- Come back for a trim every 6–10 weeks depending on how fast your child's hair grows and the style
- If the blow dry routine feels like too much at home, a quick towel dry and finger-comb works just as well for day-to-day
Your stylist will recommend any light products that can help keep hair smooth and tangle-free between appointments.
Planning Your Visit
A couple of practical tips to make the appointment go smoothly:
- Time it right: Book when your child is well-rested and fed, not during nap time or just before a meal
- Dress comfortably: Choose clothes that are easy to wash, as tiny hair clippings can be itchy afterwards
- Bring inspiration: Photos of styles you like are really helpful, though the stylist will advise on what's practical for your child's hair type and daily routine
- First-time nerves? If your child hasn't been to a salon before, talk them through what will happen or show them pictures of salons so it feels less unfamiliar
