A Boys Haircut (0–5) is all about keeping things simple, quick, and stress-free for both child and parent. Our stylists are experienced in working with very young children, using patience, gentle reassurance, and a few well-placed distractions to get a neat, tidy result without any fuss. Whether it's a first haircut or a regular trim, we'll take the time to chat with you about length and style, then work at your child's pace to deliver a cut that's easy to manage at home.

What to Expect on the Day
When you arrive at Park Row in Brighouse, we'll start with a quick chat about what you'd like—length on top, how short at the back and sides, any tricky bits like cowlicks. Then we'll settle your little one in the chair (often with a toy or something fun to look at) and gently mist and comb the hair so we can see its natural shape.
- Scissors and/or clippers with guards keep everything safe and even
- Careful tidying around the ears and neckline for a clean, soft finish
- The whole appointment usually takes around 30 minutes, depending on how cooperative your child is
- We keep movements calm and tools away from faces—no sudden surprises
Styles That Work for This Age
Most parents go for something low-maintenance and easy to brush—a tidy trim, short back and sides with a bit of length on top, or a gentle all-over shape. We can use clippers for a neat fade or taper, or stick to scissors if your child finds the buzzing uncomfortable. The goal is always an even, age-appropriate cut that looks good from all angles and grows out without harsh lines, so you're not back every few weeks.
Tips for a Smooth Visit
A fed, rested child is a cooperative child. Bring a favourite toy or comfort item, and let us know in advance if there are any sensory issues—some little ones dislike the sound of clippers or the feel of water, and we can adapt by using quieter tools or skipping the spray bottle. If it's a first haircut, we'll keep it simple and quick, and you're welcome to take photos. Dress them in something easy to clean (hair gets everywhere), and if you have a photo of the style you'd like, bring it along—it helps us get on the same page quickly.
Aftercare and Follow-Ups
After the cut, a gentle brush-off and maybe a quick bath at home will shift any itchy loose hairs. At home, regular brushing or combing in the natural parting keeps things tidy, and trimming the fringe when it reaches the eyes makes life easier. Most parents book a follow-up every 6–8 weeks to keep the style neat, though faster growers might need a trim sooner. If you'd like to chat about what will work best for your child's hair type or routine, our team—Janet, Lynzie, Beckie, Alicia, Jess, and Imogen—are always happy to help.
