A Girls Haircut (0–5) at Park Row is all about keeping your little one comfortable while giving her hair a gentle tidy. Whether it's a first haircut or a regular trim, our stylists work quickly and calmly to even out baby hair, trim a soft fringe, or shape ends — all in a fun, relaxed environment where wiggles and giggles are part of the day.

What Happens During the Appointment
We start with a quick chat — usually with you rather than your daughter! — to understand what you'd like: just a tidy-up, a fringe trim, or taking a bit more length off. Then:
- Your child sits in the chair (or on your lap if she's more settled there)
- We lightly mist or wet the hair to make cutting easier
- A simple scissor trim shapes the ends, evens things out, or gets hair out of her eyes
- A quick brush or finger-style, and she's done — usually in well under half an hour
If your little one gets restless, we work in stages and take breaks. The goal is a positive experience as much as a tidy result.
First Haircuts and Milestone Moments
If this is her first ever haircut, let us know when you book. Many parents want to capture the moment with a photo or keep a little lock of hair as a keepsake, and we're happy to help make it special. Our team (Janet, Lynzie, Beckie, Alicia, Jess, and Imogen) have all worked with dozens of young children and know how to keep the atmosphere light and pressure-free. Bring a favourite toy or snack if it helps — we want her to leave with a smile, not tears.
Keeping It Simple at Home
Young children's hair doesn't need complicated routines. After the cut:
- Detangle gently with a soft brush or wide-toothed comb, ideally after a bath when hair is damp and conditioned
- Use a mild, age-appropriate shampoo and a light conditioner if knots are an issue
- Regular trims every 8–12 weeks (or as needed) keep ends healthy and the shape neat, though some parents stretch it longer depending on growth
If your daughter has curls, very fine hair, or tangles easily at the nape, mention it during the consultation — we can suggest home-care tips and the right products to make brushing easier.
Tips for a Smooth Visit
A few simple things can help the appointment go brilliantly:
- Book a quieter time — mid-morning or early afternoon is often calmer than peak weekend slots
- Explain what will happen in simple terms beforehand, and maybe practice sitting still for a minute or two at home
- Bring a spare top or cover-up in case loose hair makes her itchy (though we use capes to catch most of it)
- Stay close and follow our lead — your calm presence helps her feel safe
For children with sensory sensitivities or who find new experiences tricky, let us know when you book. We can adjust our approach, take extra time, or work around her comfort level. Every child is different, and we're used to that here in Brighouse.
