Money piece highlights are all about maximum impact with minimum fuss. Using just a few carefully placed foils around your front hairline, we create bright, face-framing pieces that catch the light and lift your whole look. It's quicker than a full head of highlights but gives you that fresh, sun-kissed brightness exactly where you notice it most — around your face.

What happens during your appointment
The process is straightforward and focused:
- We section out the front hairline area where your hair naturally frames your face
- Using 3-5 foils, we apply lightener to fine sections following your hairline shape
- The foils process for the time needed to lift your hair to the desired brightness (we check regularly)
- After rinsing, we apply a toner or gloss to refine the shade and add shine
- Finally, we style your hair so you can see the full effect
Because we're only working on a small area, the whole service takes around an hour. Our stylists — Janet, Lynzie, Beckie, Alicia, Jess and Imogen — are all trained in precise foiling techniques, and we use Keune colour and Olaplex treatments to keep your hair in great condition throughout.
Who it suits best
Money piece highlights work beautifully on all hair colours and lengths. The effect is:
- Subtle and soft on lighter bases (think buttery blonde tones blending into your natural colour)
- Bold and striking on darker hair (high-contrast face-framing that really pops)
- Brilliant for anyone who wants a low-commitment colour refresh between bigger appointments
- Perfect if you wear your hair up often — the brightness around your hairline enhances ponytails and updos
During your free 15-minute consultation, we'll chat about how bold or natural you want the effect, how you usually part your hair (centre or side makes a difference!), and what tone will suit your skin and style. If you're after more all-over dimension, we can also combine money pieces with balayage or a half-head of highlights for a complete look.
Keeping your highlights fresh
Because the lightener is focused right at your hairline, a little aftercare goes a long way:
- Use a colour-safe, sulfate-free shampoo to protect the tone (we stock Keune ranges in salon)
- Regular conditioning or a weekly mask keeps the hair soft and glossy
- Heat protection before styling prevents dryness and colour fade
- Toners can fade over a few weeks with washing and sun, so you might want a quick toner refresh between colour appointments to keep the brightness balanced
Your stylist will talk you through exactly what your hair needs based on its condition and how light we've taken it. And if you're planning a bigger colour change down the line, money pieces are a great way to test the waters and see how you feel with brighter hair around your face before committing to a full head.
